Amelia Addison Rushton is the Director of the Victim Witness Program for the Solicitor-General’s Office in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, a role she has held since 2000. The program supports all victims of misdemeanor crimes, with a strong focus on domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Amelia co-created the county’s Fast Track program for high-risk DV and stalking cases, expediting court appearances and connecting survivors to shelter, legal advocacy, and protective orders. This initiative has been recognized as a statewide best practice by the Georgia Fatality Review.
She manages multiple federal grants, including VOCA and VAWA STOP, and serves on the Executive, Law Enforcement Training, and Fatality Review Committees of the local DV Task Force. She is also a founding member of the High-Risk Team initiative, working closely with law enforcement and advocates to ensure survivors in danger are met with immediate support.
Amelia holds a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia, where she was recently invited to join the Criminal Justice Alumni Board. She lives in Athens with her husband and two children and remains active in community literacy efforts through her service on the Friends of the Library Board.
Known for her sharp coordination skills, calm under pressure, and long-term commitment to survivors, Amelia is a respected leader in criminal justice-based advocacy.
