Dr. Jamie Lewis Saye is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Wellstar School of Nursing and Clinical Director of the SAFE (Safety, Advocacy, Forensics, and Empowerment) Center at Kennesaw State University. With a strong focus on women’s and children’s health, trauma-informed care, and support for underserved populations, she blends clinical practice with educational and community advocacy.
Dr. Saye holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Augusta University and a Master’s in Nurse Midwifery from Emory University. As a Certified Nurse-Midwife, she has provided comprehensive gynecological, obstetric, and primary care to diverse communities.
A dedicated Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) since 2014—and certified in both adult and pediatric care since 2016—Dr. Saye has built her career around advancing forensic nursing. Her research addresses critical issues such as improving forensic medical examination techniques, enhancing first-line medical responses to survivors of human trafficking, and developing better screening and care for adults with adverse childhood experiences. She is also committed to disrupting cycles of intergenerational trauma.
An active member of several nursing and professional organizations, Dr. Saye frequently shares her expertise at national and international conferences. Her work exemplifies a deep commitment to clinical excellence, research, education, and service to vulnerable populations.
