Michelle B. Toledo Caiñas is a trainer, consultant, and leader with over 15 years of experience advancing culturally responsive strategies to address gender-based violence (GBV). As a bilingual (Spanish/English) expert, she is recognized for her ability to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps, empower communities, and strengthen systems that serve survivors.


Michelle’s career spans grassroots organizing, nonprofit leadership, and national program management. She is the founder of Georgia Latinos Against Domestic Violence, where she developed training programs, community initiatives, and a culturally specific Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign for Latino communities in Metro Atlanta. She later served as Program Manager for the Georgia Latinos Against Domestic Violence initiative at Ser Familia, delivering culturally tailored GBV training and services.


Most recently, as Program Manager with the Center for Justice Innovation, Michelle led national efforts to strengthen domestic violence homicide prevention and intimate partner violence risk assessment. Her work included creating toolkits, facilitating system and community engagement, and presenting at conferences across the country.


A sought-after trainer and public speaker, Michelle has delivered impactful presentations for law enforcement, advocates, and multidisciplinary professionals. She has also provided expert witness testimony in civil and criminal domestic violence cases.


Her leadership extends to service on multiple boards and advisory roles, including the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Ahimsa House, and the National Advisory Board for the Conference on Crimes Against Women. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her advocacy, including the Georgia Commission on Family Violence Task Force Member of the Year.
